Synopsis
Fang Wanzhi (Tan Songyun), a woman in her 40s from Shenxianding, Yuxian County, a mountainous area in southwest China, experiences emotional and family upheavals, dropping out of university at the age of 20 and eventually arriving in Shenzhen.
In her early working years, she befriends Li Juan and Hao Qianqian. The three face challenges together, and as Shenzhen develops, they progress from manual labor to foreign trade, and finally to starting their own toy brand. They weather business storms and betrayals from figures like Huang Yaodong and Yan Ziwei, ultimately establishing themselves in Shenzhen.
Fang Wanzhi maintains a relentless fighting spirit, attending night school and learning English to improve herself. She actively seizes the opportunities presented by the reform and opening-up policy, constantly striving to improve herself. Those around her are also influenced by her, finding fulfilling lives.
In middle age, with her company successfully listed on the stock exchange, she hands over the business to her team and returns to her hometown with her adopted orphan, Fang Miaomiao, and her close friend Gao Xiang, finally settling down at Shenxianding, the starting point of her destiny.
